 Carmen Espejo (University of Seville) 
 Nicholas Brownlees (University of Florence).

 Call for Papers: Researchers interested in the linguistic and historical aspects of news through time, from 1500 to 1945, are invited to submit their proposals on news discourse and the various aspects and topics involved in the production and reception of news. Possible topics include political reporting, sports reporting, cultural news, war correspondents, financial news, news editing, and, in general terms, any aspect regarding the production and dissemination of news from a historical perspective, with special emphasis on language and writing strategies.

 Different methodological approaches are welcome, including, for example, sociolinguistics, discourse and content analysis or stylistics.

 Abstracts for papers of 20 minutes need to include:

 1. A title.  
 2. Name and affiliation of author(s), including email address for further contact. 
 3. An abstract of no more than 500 words including references. 
 4. Keywords: No more than 6 keywords in English

 It is envisaged that the conference will lead to the publication of a high-quality volume of essays.
