CALL FOR PAPERS FOR BARCELONA INTERNATIONAL CRITICAL PR CONFERENCE #10
UNIVERSITAT POMPEU FABRA 29 - 30 Juny 2020
Taking stock: 2020 visions on the critical, historic, contemporary and future challenges facing PR
Deadline Call for Papers: March 01st 2020
The end of the second decade of 21C and the tenth anniversary of Barcelona International Critical PR is a good time to take stock. We particularly seek papers that take stock personally, institutionally, locally and globally. As individuals and scholars/practitioners we’ve had two decades now to get a handle on how we’ve done to date and where we might be going. Every year we’ve been graced with some of the most respected academics of the field. Many of these conferences have been organized by the UPF (University Pompeu Fabra), the UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) and the University of Waikato. This year it will take place in University Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, on the 29 and 30 of June, 2020.
The first edition of this conference was held in 2010 and since then it has been celebrated annually in Barcelona. Every year we receive presentations from some of the most respected scholars and our tenth anniversary theme is: Taking stock: 2020 visions on the critical, historic, contemporary and future challenges of PR. Proposals addressing – and even challenging – the overall theme are warmly invited. Conventional papers on any aspect of public relations will also be considered. Please feel free to contact the organizers directly if you wish to discuss the relevance of any proposal. We offer the following questions not as a definitive list, but as prompts for a spread of responses:
Will PR ever have a good public reputation?
What is the major challenge (or are the major challenges) facing PR from your perspective/location/research/area of practice?
What have been major historical turning points?
What intersections are currently hot topics (e.g., AI, Big Data, Neuroscience)
Can Critical PR increase its impact?
What might PR learn from Futures Studies and projections?
How many disciplines – and which ones – offer promising lines of development for PR?
We are particularly interested in panels around common topics that feature speakers from different fields.
Our goals
If you are interested in participating, and seek an early response for funding, or planning, please send and abstract of between 250-300 words for an individual paper, and around a 1000 words for a panel of three or four speakers, as soon as possible to: callforpapersprconference@upf.edu
